Mr. Cowger has more than 25 years of experience advising startups, Fortune 500 companies, governments, and educational institutions worldwide as an educator, lawyer, businessman, and entrepreneur. Denny has been actively involved with Vietnam’s growth over the last 12 years and is always looking for opportunities to help bring the United States, Vietnam, and the world closer.
In his previous role at OrthoLite (a global manufacturer of comfort and athletic insoles), Denny served as the company’s Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. Before that, he spent several years in private practice at a few large American based law firms with offices in the US, Middle East and Asia. While at these firms, Denny helped to build and grow each of the firm’s Trans-Asia/trans-Pacific practice in areas such as corporate, M&A and Project Finance as well as help global companies with their corporate set up and strategy in the Asia Pacific with a strong emphasis on China and the ASEAN region. Denny is a standing member of the District of Columbia and State of Hawaii bar associations and is also admitted as an attorney to practice law at the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
In addition to being an East-West Center alumni, Denny holds multiple degrees such as a BA in Diplomacy, Foreign Affairs and Japanese from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio); a Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law; an LLM in Transnational Law from Temple University - James E. Beasley School of Law; and an LLM in Chinese Law from the University of Hong Kong. Being a polyglot from an early age, Denny also speaks several European and Asian languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Danish, and German to name a few.
